A friend of mine recently commissioned a couple of crocheted amigurumi sheep for a couple of table centre pieces for her wedding (don't ask... I'm not entirely sure myself... Hehe). It took me a while as they had to be a fairly good size, and I got my husband to work on the bodies to save us time. Here are the final pieces...

Crocheted Broccoli
My very close friend recently bought a toy broccoli from Ikea.
This soon turned into a bit of a thing when she began to take pictures of 'Brocolli''s visits to tourist destinations and uploading them onto Facebook.
So for her 30th Birthday I decided to attempt something I had never attempted before - crocheting a vegetable!
I made her a miniature version of her beloved a vegy-pal.
Here he is.
An ever so slightly bonkers birthday prezzy for my ever so slightly bonkers (but then who isn't?!) and truly lovely friend...
I would give you a free pattern, just in case you have the urge to crochet some greens, but I'm afraid I completely made it up as I went along.
I worked the stalk in the round (light green) and the cloud-like part (dark green) was an amalgamation of pop-corn stitch and trebble crochet decreasing into the stalk at the end. I sewed on some little beads for eyes and stitched a couple of simple stitches of black cotton to make the mouth and tada!
One cute little broccoli, crocheted with love!

Out of this world
I've wanted to crochet some naughty little monsters to put on my stall for quite a while.
My husband helped me to design these little fellas. He loves the mathamatical side of my crocheting hobby.
It is kind of an amigurumi egg and a crocheted flower crocheted together as one shape. I crocheted a straight forward circle and dot for an eye on each monster.
Here are the end results...

Blue bunnies for a baby boy
A few months ago I was commissioned to make a baby present for a little boy (who has not yet been born but is due to be born at the end of March).
Facts I had for the growing family
1) they are expecting a boy 2) baby is due in Spring time 3) baby's bedding for his cot is already purchased; patterned with little blue rabbits 4) mum-to-be owns a real life house bunny of her own.
So naturally I set about planning a bunny themed gift.
Here it is, freshly finished and photographed this morning.
I have been careful to make sure that there are no buttons that could be pulled off by tiny fingers or accidentally swallowed by tiny mouths.
Tomorrow I will send it hopping off via Royal Mail from Bath to Newcastle. I hope baby will be pleased with it when he arrives into the world any time now.
I am itching to try some more little critters. I think cute, little giraffes might be on the agenda! So watch this space...
Pricing
The five rabbits alone took over an hour each to crochet, assemble and decorate, so I would sell this kind of specially commissioned mobile for £45. If you would like one - or if you'd like a smaller one for a smaller price - get in touch via the 'contact me' page of my website - click here to go there now.
If you would like to use these pictures for anything you are really welcome to, but please do link back to my blog/website and mention me. Thank you kindly.

Baby mobile inspiration
I have decided to make a baby mobile for a customer who has a budget of around £40. I have been pinning together a moodboard on my pinterest page. Below you can see a few of the pictures that have caught my eye. These are so cute and exquisitely crocheted. I particularly love the weather ideas.

Mini Martha the amigurumi bunny
This week my husband and I are visiting home for Christmas. This year there is a new member of the family.
Meet Martha...

Ever since I began to crochet I have watched the world of amigurumi from afar, with wonder; cute elephants, marvel super heros and colourful beads.
Originating in Japan, but understandably popular worldwide, amigurumi are three dimensional crocheted or knitted toys that are usually worked in the round and stuffed with wadding.
The word 'amigurumi' is a combination of the Japanese word 'ami' which means to knit, crochet or braid and the Japanese word 'nuigurumi' which literally means 'sew and wrap', and refers to many kinds of sewn/stuffed toys.
Today I had a go at my own little amigurumi bunny. I found the making of this bunny quite tricky - especially attaching the parts together because I wasn't sure of the best way to do it - but this project was a quick one and looks pretty cute. It took just a couple of hours and it was really nice to see my work take shape and gain a personality.

I'm really looking forward to making other animals in the future.
