Pink girlie cosiness

Here is my latest one of two crocheted hot water bottle covers that I had commisions for Christmas prezzies this year. The brief was as pink and girlie as you can manage. With a thick pink ribbed stitch all of the way round, with two different shades of pink being worked at the same time, and a crocheted flower to finish, I consider the brief fulfilled :)

Poppy Spectacular

On the 4th of October I'm joining a group of the ladies from my church and community, to make tons of poppies in light of our commemorative events over the remembrance weekend. 

We're filling the Church lawn with poppies - crocheted, knitted and felt. I can't wait for this craft-ilicious burst of colour to catch the eye of our neighbourhood. WATCH THIS SPACE

In my day to day life, I look after my (nearly) 1yr old daughter, I see my husband after work and at weekends, I hang out with my friends, I go swimming, I crochet, I buy food and clean and put on the laundry, I enjoy gardening and love to meet new and interesting people on our local high street and at our local jaunts... I can't imagine what it would have been like trying to do these normal activities under the constant threat of bombs and bloodshed. I take my peaceful surroundings for granted. I create stress and drama in my comfortable, safe, first world lifestyle and I forget to thank God for all I have. 

So on the 4th as I crochet and listen to our elderly friends and fellow crafters sharing their wartime experiences, I am going to make a special effort to appreciate all that others have been through, and many in the world still go through. 

It is with warmth (and wool) that we remember those who fought for our peace and freedom in this beautiful, safe home, England.  Lest we forget. 

Sheep

A friend of mine recently commissioned a couple of crocheted amigurumi sheep for a couple of table centre pieces for her wedding (don't ask... I'm not entirely sure myself... Hehe). It took me a while as they had to be a fairly good size, and I got my husband to work on the bodies to save us time. Here are the final pieces...

A Sunhat for Sophie

I finished this little Crochet sun hat for my little poppet Sophie in no time at all. It was a really quick easy pattern that you can find for free here. 

It is a lovely hat that could be made in any colour with any detail. I just threaded some wool through the hat and sewed on a little crocheted bow in the same colour. I made it in cotton as the pattern suggests, which made it light enough to protect sensitive baby heads from the summer sun, without it making your baby too hot.

The Cutest Baby Sun Hats

On the 11th of the 11th I gave birth to our first child. A beautiful baby girl. Now summer is here I want me and her to spend every minute possible out in the fresh air, on lush daisy-sprawled lawns, with friends and toys and ice-cream (for me!). So, of course, I need to keep her delicate skin protected from the sun. Most importantly I want to protect her head, so (any excuse) I browsed pinterest for inspiration and spotted a few cute little designs that I couldn't resist...

1. The floppy sun hat.

I LOVE this pattern. It is really easy to do, took me less than a day (quite an achievement with a six month old), and looks really very cute - the perfect timeless sun hat for a boy or a girl.

A Teeny Tiny Crochet Break

We have a baby! 

She came five weeks early but is doing really well. 

So I am going to have a break from crocheting for a little while, because as you know crocheting takes two hands and this little poppet is definitely going to be taking up at least one of mine for the foreseeable future.
